American boxer champion James Toney called Ukrainian Alexander Usik trash
Former world champion according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF) in three weight categories, American James Toney, shared his opinion about Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik. His words are quoted by Boxing Social.
Tony called the athlete trash, believing that boxers of the old generation could easily defeat the Ukrainian. “He was just lucky. He was in the right place at the right time. Honestly, no modern fighter could beat us,” he said.
On February 17, 2024, Usik is scheduled to fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion against Briton Tyson Fury. The Ukrainian has 21 victories in 21 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), IBF, International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
Tony won 77 victories in the professional ring, 47 of which were ahead of schedule. The American also has ten defeats, and three more fights with his participation ended in a draw. The boxer is a former IBF world champion in three weight categories – up to 72.6, 76.2 and 90.71 kilograms.
