The court denied bail to footballer Dani Alves for the third time
The court for the third time denied the most titled football player in the world, Brazilian Dani Alves, release on bail. El Pais reports.
The court ruled that there was a risk of the athlete escaping, as prosecutors were seeking nine years in prison for him. At the same time, the defendant’s lawyer drew attention to the fact that Alves paid compensation to the victim in the amount of 150 thousand euros, which is why the term of imprisonment should not be more than two years, but this did not affect the court’s decision.
Alves was charged on July 31. A Barcelona court concluded that the football player raped the girl who filed a complaint against him. It was noted that he faces imprisonment for a term of 4 to 15 years.
The athlete was arrested on January 20, 2023. According to the alleged victim, on December 30, 2022, in one of the nightclubs in Barcelona, the football player locked her in the toilet, where he beat and raped her.
Alves became the champion of France, Italy, Spain and won the national cups of these countries. As a member of the Brazilian national team, the defender won the Olympic Games and the World Youth Championship, and also won the America’s Cup and the Confederations Cup twice each.
