Chinese platforms are breathing down Allegro’s neck. There was an aggressive entry, the growth is incredible

Chinese trading platforms attacked Poland heavily, dealing a serious blow to Polish stores. The king of online shopping in Poland is (no surprise) Allegro, but brands that we have not heard of until recently are gaining stronger positions.

It will come as no surprise that Allegro is by far the most popular shopping platform in Poland. This portal is ahead not only of all Polish but also foreign e-commerce platforms operating on the Vistula River. However, something else may surprise you.

The second most popular online store in Poland. It is second only to Allegro

A study conducted and published by Mediapanel shows that Allegro could boast in October this year. almost 19 million real users (18,963,072 people). The platform has 63.81 percent. reach and attracts each user for an average of one hour and 55 minutes per month. This is a fantastic result, but no one expected any other result, because Allegro has been at the top of the ranking for a very long time.

However, the remaining places in the lead may be surprising, especially the second place, which was taken by the Temu platform. If the name doesn’t mean anything to you, you’re not the only one. This is a completely new platform that was created in July 2022. It is registered in Boston (USA), but belongs to the Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Pinduoduo. According to the study, in October this year recorded, in fact, 10.81 million (10,812,690) real users in Poland and enjoys a reach of 36.39%. However, the time that users spend on the website and in the app is much shorter than Allegro – 21 minutes.

As Wirtualnemedia.pl writes, Temu has recorded another increase in popularity on the Vistula River and has grown by another million, thanks to which it managed to overtake the online store of the Media Expert chain, which previously occupied second place. Currently, the mediaexpert.pl website boasts 10.46 million (10,458,234) real users, 35.19%. reach and average time of 7 minutes per page.

Chinese e-commerce platforms are attacking the Polish market. “They take no prisoners”

Further places on the Mediapanel list are occupied by the well-known AliExpress (8.74 million users), Empik (7.75 million), Amazon (6.39 million), Vinted (6.3 million), Shein (6.11 million), Allegro Locally (6 million) and Rossmann (5.99 million). As many as two of them are Chinese platforms (AliExpress and Shein). The rest comes from the USA (Amazon) and Poland and Europe.

However, this does not change the fact that the three Chinese platforms included in the TOP 10 are used by millions of people in Poland. “Chinese, aggressive e-commerce companies are coming after consumers and they take no prisoners.” – commented Sylwia Czubkowska, journalist, co-author of the Techstorie podcast on TokFM, on the X website.

As Wojciech Kardys noted on X, Taking this fact into account, the platform’s result is even more impressive. “This is possible thanks to strong advertising in social media and very attractive prices in the store,” wrote Kardys. By the way, it is worth noting that the most “addictive” platform is Vinted. It ranks quite distantly, 7th, but it engages users for an average of 2 hours and 14 minutes, which is an absolute record in Poland.
