American hockey player escaped from a European club to Russia

American Mitchell Miller left the Slovak Liptovsky Mikulas for Ak Bars

American hockey player Mitchell Miller escaped from the Slovak Liptovsky Mikulas to play in Russia. This was reported on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) European club.

The team said that Miller received an offer from the Kazan club Ak Bars. “He decided to take this chance. His request to leave our club has been granted, so he will play in one of the best hockey leagues in the world,” the statement said.

21-year-old Miller joined the Liptovsky Mikulas squad in August 2023. This season he has scored six goals and provided 23 assists in 19 matches.

Miller missed the 2022/2023 season. In November 2022, he signed a contract with the National Hockey League (NHL) Boston Bruins, but the agreement was terminated two days later.

Miller was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in 2020, but the team waived his rights. The reason was the fact that a hockey player at school bullied a black disabled person.
