He rented porn movies along the way. “He was masturbating, watching us do it” – they described those events. The teacher kept saying it was a secret. Journalists of “Ara” from different generations exercising under the supervision of a trainer have heard many similar stories.

He once forced two girls to undress in the boys’ locker room. It was a kind of punishment – probably for interfering with class. Students recall that it was difficult to avoid uncomfortable situations. If some girls were just splashing water, thinking that this way they would avoid shower problems, the trainer checked if they were wet and why their hair was dry. Some teenagers, hearing the coach entering the locker room, locked themselves in the toilets, ensuring themselves at least for a moment of peace. Several people who reported these situations admitted to journalists that they had traumatized them. In a few cases, specialist help was needed.

What does the trainer himself say? The journalists of “Ary” asked Benaiges about the accusations, but the coach, apart from being the exercise master, also considers himself a “sex educator”. After all, students could call him about any embarrassing matter that he willingly discussed with them. Besides, he probably called them more often himself. Benaiges admits there were sometimes complaints about his controls in the women’s locker room, but adds that there was no evil intention in what he was doing. Because what about the annual habit of explaining how to wash and dry on a naked student? While giving directions to the whole class, the teacher was touching the private parts of the body in question.

“I would not wish this to any child. I had to go to a psychologist” – quotes the experiencing teenager “Ara”. Benaiges repeats his: I was taking care of the children’s hygiene. Regarding possible contacts or touches of teenagers, he suggested that, if anything, they were rather “involuntary and without malice”. He reminds that it was he who insisted that there should always be two elderly people in Barca’s changing rooms. Yes, to avoid “risky” situations.

Benaiges then started to “cry” in front of the management, he said it was a misunderstanding. The case then ended for him without consequences. The future director of the facility, Maria Corbairan, who worked there until 2012, speaks in a similar vein about her employee. Corbain said she hadn’t had any formal complaints against Benaies. Except for one in 1997, from a child who, according to the director, “lied”. However, the newspaper presents a report from 1989 in which the management dismissed the charges against Benaies. “They put us in front of the teacher and told him to apologize” – announced the witness, recalling how the denunciations ended.
