Russian judges banned from using mate in official documents

The Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has previously drawn the attention of the courts to the inadmissibility of using words in a sentence that are unacceptable in official documents. “This requirement applies equally to all types of court decisions that resolve the dispute on the merits and are issued in the name of the Russian Federation,” the letter says. They clarified that the presence of foul language in judicial acts negatively affects the authority of justice.

In rare cases, when it is necessary, it is proposed to use gaps in swear words or in their place, to replace parts of words with symbols, etc. “It seems that the errors of judges in understanding the limits of the need for a verbatim statement of the” incorrect “positions formulated by the parties are quite rare” , – the judges write.
