One of the most interesting boxing galas this year took place in Madison Square Garden. In the fight of the evening, Vasyl Łomaczenko defeated Richard Commey on points and won the WBO Continental belt in light weight. Thus, the Ukrainian, as planned, continues his path to regain the WBA, IBF and WBO belts lost last year to Teofimo Lopez.
Fury did it again. Suddenly a cake drove in and it sounded “Happy Birthday”
Lots of boxers from the boxing world showed up at the gala in New York. Among other things, there was a meeting of two heavyweight champions – and Oleksandr Usyk. However, there was no clash between the boxers, and they actually sat down next to each other and took photos together.
However, Fury drew attention to himself in a different way. The British decided to celebrate the recent birthday of the legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum, who also deals with his affairs. The American turned 90 on December 8. On this occasion, the WBC world champion stole the entire show, appearing in the ring just before the fight of the evening.
First, a large cake, dedicated especially for Bob Arum, drove into the hall, and then Fury played the role of the leader and sang “Happy Birthday” to the promoter. The American clearly could not contain his emotions, as shown by the television cameras. The British boxer, however, did not stop there and decided to sing the favorite song of his 90-year-old friend – “American Pie” by Don McLean, which he has already sung after his fights.
