Valieva will speak again at the CAS meeting

Figure skater Kamila Valieva will perform again before CAS judges on November 9

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will again perform before the arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. TASS reports this with reference to a source close to the situation.

“Camila will be heard again by the CAS arbitrators, this will happen today, after which she will go to the tournament in Kazan,” the agency’s interlocutor said. The fourth stage of the Russian Grand Prix series, for which the athlete is registered, starts on November 11.

Hearings in Valieva’s case were scheduled to take place at CAS from September 26 to 29. During the event, four parties spoke: the skater herself, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Skating Union and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. During the meeting, it became known that Valieva did not receive notification from WADA that her sample taken during the 2021 Russian Championships gave a positive result.

At the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal involving her. Traces of a prohibited drug were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
