Elena Vyalbe said that the FIS decision to extend the suspension of Russians was expected
President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe spoke about the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to extend the suspension of Russians. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Vyalbe said that the FIS verdict was absolutely expected. “We didn’t imagine anything else. I don’t want to think who exactly influenced the International Ski Federation, but given the fact that the policy of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is such, the FIS could not accept anything else,” she noted.
Earlier on October 25, it became known that the FIS Council extended sanctions against Russian athletes. This was announced by member of the organization’s board Eric Reste.
For the first time, restrictions on the performance of Russians at international ski tournaments were imposed in March 2022. After that, they were extended several times.
