“It revives our work”: Putin praised Patrushev for getting in touch from the chicken coop and asked about high prices for poultry meat

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of timely measures on the part of the government against the backdrop of rising prices for poultry meat.

The head of state asked the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev why chicken prices in Russia have risen so much – by 27% since the beginning of the year. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture joined a meeting with government members led by Putin from a poultry complex near Moscow. In response, the president praised the minister for his work on the spot. “The fact that you are communicating with us from the chicken coop is great! This enlivens our work,” Putin said to the loud cackling of chickens.

Patrushev reported that the Ministry of Agriculture is already dealing with this problem. According to him, poultry producers, “feeling their social responsibility, have already begun to lower the price of chicken.” In turn, Putin pointed out that poultry farmers are “doing business.” “And the government must turn on well-known mechanisms in a timely manner, including the purchase of imports from our closest neighbors from Belarus, for example Kazakhstan,” the Russian leader noted. “We need to do this in a timely manner. Then there wouldn’t have been such a rise (in prices – editor’s note), ”Putin concluded.

Earlier, Rosstat reported that the rise in egg prices in the country accelerated, and chicken prices began to rise more slowly.
