The head of the WFTU Salnikov called the criteria for admitting Russians to tournaments humiliating
The Russian Swimming Federation (RFS) criticized the criteria for admitting Russian athletes to international competitions. The words of the head of the organization, Vladimir Salnikov, are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Salnikov called the criteria of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) for admitting Russians to tournaments humiliating. “Here is a declaration, which also assumes that the athlete must write a complaint against himself, that he did not participate in any actions, did not express any position on social networks. Black PR has captured the heads of sports organizations,” he noted.
Salnikov said that Russian water sports federations have filed a complaint with World Aquatics. “We are interacting with our Olympic Committee in order to adjust some legal nuances related to the assessment of both Russian legislation and international legislation regarding admission criteria,” he emphasized.
On September 4, it became known that the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in a neutral status in individual disciplines. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete. In addition, World Aquatics threatened to suspend Russians for communicating with the media at competitions.
In April 2022, World Aquatics banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices.
