Guberniev praised biathlete Wierer for her words about the admission of Russians to tournaments
Sports journalist Dmitry Guberniev appreciated the statements of Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer about the admission of Russians to international tournaments. His words are quoted by Sport24.
The commentator said that Italians have always maintained a positive attitude towards Russian sports and praised the athlete. “Wearer has always been our good friend, thank you to her for these words. This is the voice of a reasonable and kind person, but I’m afraid that he will drown in anti-Russian hysteria,” he emphasized.
Earlier on October 15, Wierer believed that sport should unite, and not divide even more. She expressed hope that this situation will end for everyone and the athletes will try to return to normal life.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who do not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. However, athletes associated with the armed forces or security forces of their countries are recommended not to be allowed to participate in tournaments.
