Brenda Guadalupe was about to graduate from medical school: 17 months after her death, her friend was arrested for allegedly pushing her off the 13th floor.

Brenda Guadalupe Trinidad Domínguez dreamed of becoming a doctor and began to realize how close she was to graduating when the shadow of death marked her tragic fate.

On the night of May 14, 2022, I celebrated with some friends. He was about to complete his medical studies at La Salle University and joined the party in an apartment in the Bosques de Lomas Verdes neighborhood, in the municipality of Naucalpan, in the state of Mexico.

That night, Brenda Guadalupe died. He fell from the 13th floor of a building.

A year and five months later, his girlfriend was arrested in the case. She is being prosecuted for femicide.

A mother’s doubts

The version of suicide given to Brenda Guadalupe’s mother was untrue and she demanded that authorities investigate the case as femicide, El Heraldo de México published.

According to the mother, she was “the last to hear of the death, as she was not called until midnight.”

Brenda Guadalupe was, in the eyes of her friends and family, “an excellent student, supporter of the feminist movement, an animal advocate and an activist for the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community.”

The future medical professional “had satisfactorily passed her ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) exam,” so it seemed far off to think she could make an attempt on her life.

According to El Heraldo, Brenda was “just fifteen days away from completing her studies.”

According to the investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico, “Brenda allegedly had an argument with her friend, María Elizabeth, who allegedly threw her off the terrace in the middle of the fight,” Página Central reported.

The Office of the Attorney General of the State of Mexico announced on October 9, 2023 in a statement reproduced by El Heraldo “that (…) they have managed to establish that the detainee, identified as María Elizabeth “N”, is a romantic was a partner of Brenda Guadalupe and that they allegedly had an argument on the day of the events.”

The women struggled and María Elizabeth “allegedly pushed her friend against the railing of the apartment” on the 13th floor.

The woman currently facing charges of femicide “is alleged to have attempted to divert the investigation by stating that Brenda threw herself of her own free will; However, the version was thrown out with expert evidence,” they say from the Public Prosecution Service.
