Footballer Kokorin said that he asked the management of Aris for number nine
Russian striker Alexander Kokorin spoke about his request to the management of the Cypriot Aris before the transfer. His words are quoted by “Championship”.
Kokorin said that Daniel Sikorsky, who retired last season, wore number nine at the club. “I asked: if you can, hold the nine for me. One of the newbies asked for this number. They explained: one guy might come back here for him, sorry,” he recalled.
On September 8, Kokorin spoke about the difficulties of playing in the Italian Fiorentina. The footballer noted that the club’s opinion about him had changed, but he did not receive playing time.
Kokorin moved to Fiorentina in January 2021 from Spartak Moscow. The striker spent the previous season on loan at Cypriot Aris, becoming the winner of the national championship. On September 5, it became known that Aris again took Kokorin on an annual lease from the Italian club.
