Films about world-famous athletes enjoy incredible popularity and interest. An example is the documentary, which joined the Amazon Prime library in March 2023 and immediately became a sensation among viewers. The website has decided to continue its good streak and is already announcing the latest production about another legend of Polish football, Jakub Błaszczykowski.
Amazon Prime will make a film about another Polish football player. What will the story be about?
Jakub Błaszczykowski is well known to football fans. He was a player of Wisła Kraków and also scored goals for Borussia Dortmund. In 2006, he joined the Polish national team, and in 2010–2014 he also served as team captain. In July 2023, he decided to officially end his career and retire from sports. Now Amazon Prime will take viewers through all the years of his activity, from the difficult beginnings on the pitch in his hometown of Truskolas, through all the clubs he represented, to the decision to end his professional adventure with football.
There will also be touching moments and details from his private life, and these, as is commonly known, were sometimes dramatic. – I believe that my story can help young people achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams. It’s because of them that I decided on this project – football player. – In the film, I want people to see me as my family and friends see me. A man who can evaluate himself, with all his failures and successes, he explained.
His relatives will appear in the film about Błaszczykowski. When is the premiere?
As with the film, Papaya Films will also produce this time for Amazon Prime. Kacper Sawicki became the creative director of the project. – Producing documentaries about outstanding personalities, in this case athletes, is not an easy but rewarding task – he says, revealing what viewers can expect. – This will be a story not only about football, but also about the human pursuit of dreams and overcoming adversity – he announced. Interestingly, the documentary will feature not only Jakub Błaszczykowski, but also his bandmates, as well as his family and closest friends. Jan Dybus will be responsible for directing the film, while the cinematography was entrusted to Marianna Klein and Igor Połaniewicz. At the moment, the exact release date is not known, but according to the announcement, the film will appear in the platform’s library in 2024.
