The gesture of covering the mouth that the Germans made on Wednesday as an act of protest will not be reproduced by the players of the Netherlands this Friday before the match against Ecuador, declared manager Louis van Gaal. He says that his team’s objective is different: “We are here to win world Cup“.

In the official photo, before the lost match for the Japan 2-1, the players from Germany decided to appear with their mouths covered. The act was a protest against FIFA’s decision to prevent the captain, Manuel Neuer, from wearing a rainbow armband in support of the LGBT movement.
“We are here to win the World Cup,” replied the Dutch coach when asked if his players would follow the example of the Germans and make some protest gesture.
The Netherlands was one of the European teams that gave up the armband with the message “One Love”, for fear of FIFA sanctions. In addition, the harsh working conditions experienced by the migrants who worked on the works for the World Cup were also the subject of complaints by humanitarian organizations against Qatar.
“We’ve put an end to political issues since we invited migrant workers to our training center on Thursday” to share moments with the players, added the Dutch coach.
