UFC chief White calls Sterling-defeating MMA fighter Sean O’Malley a star
UFC President Dana White praised the victory of American mixed martial artist (MMA) Sean O’Malley over compatriot Aljamain Sterling in the bantamweight title fight. His words are quoted by BJ Penn.
White stated that O’Malley deserved the championship fight and called him a true star. “You can’t predict anything here, styles make fights. Sometimes things happen that you don’t expect, ”said the head of the UFC.
The bout between O’Malley and Sterling took place on the night of 19/20 August. Sean knocked out a compatriot in the second round. The fight took place as part of the UFC 292 tournament in Boston and became the main event of the evening.
Sterling has held the title since 2021. O’Malley had the first title fight of his career. The American now has 17 wins and one loss in MMA fights. Sterling has 23 wins and four losses.
