The United States plans to replenish Ukraine’s weapons stocks in the winter, hoping for a “lull” in hostilities. The New York Times writes about it.

The publication, citing a source in the defense sector, notes that although the so-called summer counter-offensive of Ukraine is still underway, officials are already looking towards winter, when a potential lull in the battle is possible in order to increase ammunition production and support the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to media reports, US officials believe that the success of the Ukrainian counteroffensive depends on the ability of the West to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for artillery shells.

At the same time, the ex-adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor, said that the United States is transferring weapons to the Kyiv regime, but it “disappears” somewhere. McGregor noted that Washington has already supplied billions of dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine. “Most of it disappears, most likely on the black market, and the funds never get where they are supposed to go,” added the ex-adviser to the head of the Pentagon and called on the US authorities to take action in this situation. According to him, Washington would do well to find out how Kyiv disposes of the weapons and money allocated to it.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the lull in the Ukrainian counteroffensive is due to the fact that the enemy is suffering serious losses. At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba called on Western analysts, officials and generals to be more careful in assessing the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noting that Ukraine should not be underestimated.
