Jeremy Sarmiento’s first game as a starter with Brighton, but leaves soon due to injury

It was the Ecuadorian midfielder’s first stellar encounter in the Premier League.

A goal in the penultimate minute by Neal Maupay gave Brighton the tie (1-1) in London against West Ham United, a game in which Ecuadorian international Jeremy Sarmiento added his first start with the Seagulls in the Premier League championship.

Sarmiento, who had made his debut in the English first division championship on 27 November during a goalless draw with Leeds United, took to the field of London Stadium wearing number 60.

“Full Premier League debut for Sarmiento # 60,” Brighton announced on their social channels.

But the footballer born in Madrid, to Ecuadorian parents, did not complete fifteen minutes on the pitch because at 13, coach Graham Potter decided to replace him with Solly March. The game was already 1-0 in favor of West Ham with a goal from Tomas Soucek in the 5th minute and Sarmiento limped off the court due to a blow to his left leg.

To the satisfaction of the visitors, Frenchman Neal Maupay managed to tie the game 1-1 with his goal in the 89th minute.

Brighton has 19 units and is seventh in the Premier League standings, behind Wolverhampton (21), Arsenal (23), West Ham (24), Liverpool (31), Manchester City (32) and the leader, Chelsea (33). (D)
