Isinbayeva announced the resumption of work in the IOC

Yelena Isinbayeva says she will resume work at the IOC in September 2023

Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva announced on her VKontakte page that she had resumed her work at the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

“There was a temporary pause in work, the IOC needed time to figure everything out. Today I can gladly announce that in September 2023 I will resume my international activities,” Isinbayeva said. She added that the IOC had “no doubt” about her.

Isinbayeva also spoke about her military ranks. “Those ranks that are being talked about today are nominal, since I am not and never have been in the service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Just as I have never been a State Duma deputy or a member of any party, ”she emphasized.

Earlier on July 12, El Digital Sur reported that the former athlete lives in Tenerife and posted photos of her from the island. Isinbayeva herself called these publications fake.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts.

Isinbayeva, 41, is a major in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The three-time world champion has been on the IOC Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
