Sport Express: Russian referees and delegates will return to work at matches under the auspices of UEFA
Russian referees and delegates may soon return to work at matches under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). This is with reference to sources reports “Sport-Express”.
According to the publication, the Russian Football Union (RFU) has been actively discussing with UEFA the return of referees and officials to work since February this year. It is noted that at the moment the positions of the parties allow us to hope for a speedy resolution of this issue.
UEFA did not suspend Russian referees and other officials from work. At the same time, from the beginning of the special operation, the referees did not serve international matches, which was explained by problems with logistics.
On June 28, it was reported that the Russian referee Sergey Karasev received a call to the meeting of UEFA referees, which will be held in September 2023. It will be attended by referees working at matches under the auspices of the organization.
Russian teams and clubs do not take part in international tournaments by decision of UEFA and the International Football Federation from February 2022.
