The fan zone at the Moscow Sports Day in Luzhniki was closed for security reasons after a stampede by fans at meetings with Olympic figure skating champions Alina Zagitova and Anna Shcherbakova, RIA Novosti reports.

As part of the event, it was planned to meet fans with famous athletes, including the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova, Alexandra Trusova, Kamila Valieva and Anna Shcherbakova. The meetings were hosted by TV presenters Emma Gadzhiyeva and Denis Stoykov.

After the fan meeting with Alina Zagitova, the presenters actively urged the fans not to make a crush, but they tried to take pictures and take an autograph, not paying attention to the safety of others. The same situation was repeated at the meeting with Anna Shcherbakova. After that, Gadzhiyeva and Stoikov announced that the fan zone was being closed for security reasons. The organizers said that Valieva and Trusova will not take part in meetings with fans.
