In Celta called Valery Karpin a living history of the club
Celta appreciated the contribution of Valery Karpin to the club’s success on the eve of the team’s centenary. This is stated in the publication of the press service in Twitter.
“He endowed Celta with his competitive gene, which returned the team to European competition after more than a quarter of a century,” Celta wrote, calling Karpin the club’s living history. In addition, the team said that Karpin, along with Alexander Mostov, was a “dream duet”.
Karpin played in the Spanish club as a midfielder from 1997 to 2002. Together with the team, he won the Intertoto Cup and became the finalist of the Spanish Cup. Mostovoy played for Celta Vigo from 1996 to 2004.
In the summer of 2021, Karpin became the head coach of the Russian national team. Under his leadership, the team reached the play-offs for the right to play in the 2022 World Cup, but did not play in them due to suspension by the International Football Federation (FIFA). At the moment, the specialist also heads Rostov.
