Euskaraz irakurri: Oier Lazkano, errepideko Espainiako txapeldun

Oier Lazkano (Movistar) was proclaimed champion of Spain this Sunday June 25 after being best in online test starting and ending in San Lorenzo del Escorial (186.1 km).

The cyclist from Vitoria-Gasteiz knew how to get into the good break of the day, launched the final attack at 26 kilometers from the finish line and was victorious. Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates) was second and Álex Aranburu (Movistar) thirdboth 6 seconds behind the champion.

After overcoming the first 40 kilometers they attacked Charles Verona (Movistar) and javier romo (Astana Qazaqstan). The peloton broke up and behind the duo that led the race a group of 40 cyclists, although there was no understanding between them. However, another group made up of Paul Castrillo (Kern Pharma), Eugenio Sanchez (Kern Pharma), Jose Maria Garcia (Electro Hyper Europe), Ivan Garcia Cortina (Movistar), David Gonzalez (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Javi Serrano (Eolo Kometa) and Xabier Isasa (Euskaltel-Euskadi). But, the peloton accelerated and caught the seven riders who were chasing the front of the race.

After a moment of truce, they jumped out of the platoon Jose Manuel Diaz Gallego (Burgos BH), Hector Carter (Kern Pharma), Paul Castrillo (Kern Pharma), Julen Amezqueta (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Gorka Izagirre (Movistar) and Oier Lazkano (Movistar), although the adventure of this group did not prosper either.

At the top of Cruz Verde the peloton broke up again. Thus, Romo and Verona have been hunted by Gonzalo Serrano (Movistar), Lazkano, Izagirre, Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma), Castrillo, Raúl García (Kern Pharma), Pau Miquel (Kern Pharma), Amezqueta, Abel Balderstone (Caja Rural- Seguros RGA) and Víctor De la Parte (TotalEnergies). A little later they were joined by Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates).

Therefore, a group made up of 13 cyclists was at the head of the race. Then, Euskaltel-Euskadi began to pull the peloton and Caja Rural took over. Between the two teams they reduced the disadvantage with respect to the leading group, but there were also movements ahead. Oier Lazkano attacked 26 kilometers from the finish line and the man from Vitoria was left alone at the head of the race. In the chasing group Movistar had four more cyclists; evidently, with a comrade in the lead they did not shoot, and among the others there was no understanding. Further back, the peloton could not get close to the second group.

That way, Oier Lazkano rounded off the good work of his team with victoryand will wear the jersey of the champion of Spain during the next season.
