UEFA suspends Mourinho for four games for insulting referee at Roma game

UEFA’s disciplinary commission has suspended the coach of UEFA for four games. Romathe Portuguese José Mourinho, for having insulted the referee of the final of the Europa Leaguein which the Italian team was defeated by Sevilla on 31 May.

After the tense decision in Budapest, which ended with the Spaniards winning on penalties (4-1 after a 1-1 draw), a video was released of Mourinho shouting in the Puskás Arena parking lot with referee Anthony Taylor, “p.. . shame, it’s a p… shame!”.

The coach will not be able to stay on the sidelines for Roma’s first four Europa League games next season, UEFA explained in a statement.

According to the English refereeing organization PGMOL, Anthony Taylor and his family were also “attacked and insulted” by Roma fans at the airport.

UEFA also condemned Roma to pay a fine of 50,000 euros (R$ 261,000 at current exchange rates) and to play a game as a visitor without their fans, due to several infractions, such as the “use of flags” and “incorrect behavior ” team’s.

In addition, the Italian club will have to “contact the Hungarian Football Federation within 30 days” to repair the damage caused in the stadium by its fans, who broke “hundreds of garbage cans, glass, electrical sockets and two chairs”.
