Lewandowski says retirement “is close” and rejects Saudi interest

Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, now a striker for Barcelonastated that his retirement is “closer than far” and admitted that he is very happy in the Catalan team.

“My retirement? It’s close. It’s quite possible that my career will end in Barcelona, ​​where my family and I feel very comfortable”, declared the center forward Canal + Sportfrom Poland.

Lewandowski rejected Saudi Arabia’s interest in taking him to Arab football and said he will only make a decision after the end of his contract with Barcelona. “Only after finishing my contract will I ask myself if I want to continue playing.”

“Saudi Arabia? Today I am happy in Barcelona. I feel that I am in a club that suits me. So I want to fulfill my contract there”, added the striker.

The Pole also commented that, after his arrival at the Catalan club, he felt he needed to be important both off and on the pitch. “I felt I could score fewer goals because I had to find a new role. I had to focus on other things.”

At the end of the interview, Lewandowski also concluded by saying that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández “knows what the team needs at every moment and in a short time he has shown that he is growing. He has a very clear idea of ​​football”.

Robert Lewandowski arrived at Barcelona in July 2022. The center forward was bought from Bayern Munchen for 45 million euros, in addition to five million in variables (around R$ 261.5 million in total). The Pole ended the 2022/23 season with 33 goals scored in all competitions and was top scorer in the Spanish Championship.
