Senegal’s national team, like Norway, has never lost to Brazil in history. And the statistic remained largely intact thanks to Sadio Mané – the Bayern Munich star scored two goals, one of them a goal, and helped Aliou Cissé’s side to beat the national team 4-2.
The match took place last Tuesday (20), at Estádio José Alvalade, in Portugal, and was the last commitment of Ramon Menezes’ men before the start of the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
After the confrontation, Mané passed through the mixed zone in Lisbon wearing a Selection shirt – with the number 1 on the back and autographed by Taffarel, with whom he worked at Liverpool and developed a great friendship. Fan of Brazilian football and questioned about the game, the striker preached respect.
“Of course, Brazil is one of the best teams in the world. Today, we started well and we had some chances. I would say that we deserved the victory”, he affirmed.
“For me, it’s difficult to comment on the game because I’m not very good with comments. But, of course, Brazil has a very good team. I have great respect for the country and its players,” added Mané.
This was the last game of the Brazilian national team before the start of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup – which begin in September. Amarelinha debuts in the competition against Bolivia, at home, and then plays Peru away from home.
