Serbian Spartak announced on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) on the appointment of Alexander Kerzhakov as head coach.
The contract with the 40-year-old Russian specialist was signed for one year with the possibility of prolongation for another season. Spartak from the city of Subotica plays in the Serbian Premier League. According to the results of the playoffs in the 2022/2023 season, the club finished tenth in the standings.
Earlier in 2023, for two months, Kerzhakov headed another European club, the Cypriot Karmiotissa. On April 1, the team announced the departure of the specialist, emphasizing that he left the post of head coach of his own free will. Under his leadership, the club played six matches, scoring one win, drawing once and suffering four defeats.
Kerzhakov is a three-time Russian champion with Zenit. After retiring in 2017, he coached the Tom and Nizhny Novgorod clubs, as well as the Russian youth team.
