France beat fragile Gibraltar with Mbappé’s goal and remain 100% in the Euro Qualifiers

In a commitment valid for the Qualifiers for the Eurocopa, the France went to Portugal to face the Gibraltar team and won 3-0. Giroud, Mbappé and Mouelhi (own goal) were responsible for scoring the goals at Estádio Algrave this Friday.

With the victory, the French reached nine points in three matches and are at the top of Group B, which also includes the Netherlands, Greece and Ireland. Didier Deschamps’ men have 100% success in the competition so far

France’s next duel will be on Monday, when it will face Greece. Gibraltar, who are bottom of the group and still haven’t scored, will play the other match against Ireland on the same day.

The game

France’s first goal came just three minutes into the first half. Coman made a play on the right and crossed for Giroud, who appeared in the middle of the defenders to head in and open the scoring.

In stoppage time, VAR saw a handball from a Gibraltar defender in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. Mbappé went to the penalty spot and hit the cross, taking it from the goalkeeper and extending the advantage of the French.

In the second stage, the visitors’ third came only in the 35th minute. Mbappé started down the left and touched in the middle of the area, but Mouelhi got complicated and sent against his own goal.
