Arsenal defender scores as Germany lose to Poland in international friendly

On Friday afternoon, the Germany visited the Polandat the National Stadium in Warsaw, in the Polish capital, in a friendly match, and lost by 1 to 0. Defender Kiwior, from Arsenal, was the author of the only goal of the game.

The match marked the farewell of former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski, who will retire from the Polish national team at the age of 37 and with 109 matches played.

The Germans, commanded by Hansi Flick, entered the field with: Ter Stegen; Keher, Thiaw (Wolf) and Rudiger; Hofmann (Gosens), Emre Can, Henrichs (Sané), Wirtz (Julian Brandt) and Kimmich (Goretzka); Musiala (full pitcher) e Havertz.

The only goal of the match came in the first half. In the 31st minute, Sebastian Szymanski took a corner kick from the right, Kiwior managed to unmark himself and didn’t even have to jump to test the bottom of the goal and score the 1-0 for Poland.

In the second half, Germany had a penalty scored in their favor in the 13th minute. After crossing, the referee noted that Bednarek touched the ball with his hand. However, after analysis on the VAR monitor, the referee realized that she had touched the defender’s back and reversed the decision.

Already in the final minutes, at 43, Rudiger made a beautiful launch for Wolf, who had just entered. The German midfielder climbed on the defender’s back and tested for the goal, but Szczesny made a great save and took it over the line. In the next minute, it was Goretzka’s turn to head and stop the Polish goalkeeper.

Finally, both selections return to the field still on this Fifa Date. Next Tuesday, Germany will host Colombia, again in a friendly match, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), at the Veltins-Arena, in Gelsenkirchen (ALE). At the same time, Poland visits Moldova, for the fourth round of Group E of the Euro 2024 Qualifiers, at the Zimbru Stadium, in Chisinau (MOL).
