Bivol appreciated the refusal of the promoter Beterbiev to organize their fight

Bivol said that he does not consider the Russian passport a problem for the fight with Beterbiev

Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol appreciated the refusal of promoter Bob Arum, who works with Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev, to organize their joint fight. The athlete’s words are quoted by the Boxing News YouTube channel.

Beterbiev represents Canada in international tournaments, and Arum said he did not want to facilitate his fights with Russian boxers in the current political climate. “I was born in Kyrgyzstan. He spent a lot of time there, and also lived a lot in the USA. Over the past year I have been in Russia for less than four months. This is not a problem due to which we will not be able to arrange a fight, ”Bivol said, adding that he could get a passport of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan in a short time.

On June 8, Arum told Boxing247 that he did not consider Beterbiev to be Russian. “He has had a Canadian resident visa for 14 years. He lives and works here, so I perceive him as a Canadian, ”the promoter explained.

Beterbiev owns three championship belts in the light heavyweight category: according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO). In total, he won 19 victories in his career and did not suffer a single defeat.

Bivol has 21 wins and no losses. He holds the world championship belt according to the World Boxing Association (WBA).
