Rehabilitologist Ternova said that Roman Kostomarov will often modify prostheses
Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Konstantin Ternovoy spoke about the process of prosthetics for the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Ternovoy said that Kostomarov will be forced to turn to specialists for maintenance and refinement of prostheses quite often, since this is an individual process. He stressed that Kostomarov would have to modify the prostheses to suit his lifestyle.
On June 5, it was reported that Kostomarov would remain in the hospital until the end of the summer. It was noted that the operation should be carried out in one to two months. Before that, it became known that prosthetics for Kostomarov were planned to be carried out in Russia. Foreign specialists can be involved in operations, and prostheses can also be brought from abroad.
Kostomarov was admitted to the hospital on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the doctors had to amputate both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
