Rider Nikita Mazepin denied entry to the UK to negotiate with Formula 1

Russian driver Nikita Mazepin has been denied entry to the UK to negotiate with Formula 1 teams. It is reported by Bloomberg.

According to the source, the reason was the decision of the court, which refused to remove the athlete from the sanctions lists. The British authorities said that the racer’s agents could negotiate. Mazepin, on the other hand, claims that he needs to personally meet with team representatives so that they can assess his speed for the 2024 season.

On April 22, Mazepin filed a lawsuit with the Federal Court of Canada in order for the country’s authorities to lift the sanctions imposed against him. He stated that Canadian sanctions could prevent him from returning to Formula 1.

The American Formula 1 team Haas terminated the contract with the pilot in March 2022. The team also announced the termination of cooperation with Uralkali, which sponsored it. Mazepin spent one season in the team, finishing 20th in the overall standings.
