French coach and former player Zinedine Zidane has turned down a proposal to be the next manager of the Paris Saint Germainaccording to the newspaper The Parisian. The coach had already been consulted at another opportunity by the Parisian club, in 2021, before PSG closed with Pochettino.
The 1998 world champion midfielder was in Paris on Wednesday for an event run by the ELA association, of which he is an ambassador. When asked by a reporter about his professional plans for the future, Zidane said he had nothing in mind.
“You surprise me with your question. I, for now, have nothing planned,” she replied.
When denied the first opportunity to take charge of PSG, in 2021, Zidane still had hopes of becoming the next coach of the French national team, still according to the The Parisian. This door closed when Didier Deschamps’ contract was renewed in January 2023.
Without being able to count on Zidane, PSG’s priority is former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann. Other names like Luís Enrique, former commander of the Spanish national team, and Xabi Alonso, coach of Bayer Leverkusen, are still on the radar of the Parisian team.
