It is hoped that with this contest Ecuador will very soon become the epicenter of Brazilian jiujitsu in Latin America.
The first edition of the tournament jiujitsu Brazilian with kimono (Gi) The Jiujitsu League was defined for this Saturday, November 27 at the Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum, in the city of Guayaquil, with the participation of 352 athletes registered in different categories (infant, infant-youth, youth, adult and master) and in all belts (white, blue, purple, brown and black).
“We have exceeded all expectations in registrations, numbers that we consider already marked a before and after,” announced through a post Nova Jiujitsu, the organization that carries out the contest.
Delegations from the United States, Colombia, Germany, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru will attend this first edition of The Jiujitsu League.
Athletes will perform on tatami mats located in four locations on the Voltaire Paladines Polo basketball court and weigh-in will take place thirty minutes before each athlete’s first fight.
The contest will be refereed under the rules and weight tables of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).
All fights will last 6 minutes, except for the children.
There will only be one third place per category; those eliminated in the semifinal round will compete for that third place.
According to the schedule released by the organizers, the tournament begins at 09:00 with the confrontations of the children’s categories, at 10:00 will give way to the white and youth ribbons categories, at 11:00 at the ribbon categories black and at 12:00 to those with blue and purple ribbons.
At 2:00 p.m. the athletes of the brown ribbon category will be presented, at 3:00 p.m. those corresponding to the absolute brown and black category and at 4:00 p.m. those of absolute blue and purple.
The team awards are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and the closing of the event for 6:00 p.m.
The economic prize to the absolute champion in adult black belt is 300 dollars.
The Jiujitsu League also has the support of the Guayas Jiujitsu Association and the Guayas Provincial Sports Federation.

The ticket for the general public can be purchased at the box office of the coliseum on the day of the event, it has a value of 5 dollars.
The maximum audience capacity is 4,000 people.
