This Sunday, November 28, from 09:00 to 15:00, the Lojano canton of Saraguro will celebrate the Saddlebag Festival 2021, Saraguro Cultura Viva (second edition), in which its inhabitants will occupy the Park of Cultures with their traditional outfits, with poncho and hat, and, in addition, displaying with special pride an element that is part of their indigenous and rural identity: the saddlebag.
“The event will recognize the people who use the saddlebag on a daily basis, the oldest, the largest, the smallest, the most colorful, the oldest and youngest who use them”, points out Robert Puglla, director of the travel magazine Vistalsur, who organizes this cultural meeting with the support of Francisco Macas (indigenous prioste) and Sabino Armijos (peasant prioste).
Attendees will receive as a gift woven saddlebags that have been donated by community members, such as business owners, professionals, and migrants.
