Therapist Ikehara Advised the WOOP Method for Staying Motivated During Workouts
Behavioral therapist Linh-Khan Ikehara suggested a powerful way to stay motivated while exercising. Her words leads Shape.
The expert said that it is necessary to set realistic goals and recommended using the WOOP (Wish-Outcome-Obstacle-Plan) method. To do this, you need to write down a lesson plan on paper, answering questions from four categories. The first is Wish – what is the most important goal to achieve in the course of training? The goal should be challenging but achievable.

The second category is Outcome – how will you feel when you complete the task? The third point – an obstacle (Obstacle) – what prevents you from reaching the goal? And the final part – the plan (Plan) – what exactly are you going to do?
Ikehara noted that the goal can be broken down into several steps and go towards it gradually. She added that it’s important to be kind to yourself, thank yourself for your efforts, and be creative with your workouts, such as constantly adding something new to your classes (music, clothes, equipment).
Earlier, fitness trainer Natalia Ekonomtseva advised a workout for the laziest amateur athletes. She had them perform leg raises, push-ups, squats, and crunches to work their abs.
