Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Milan at the end of the season, which ends this weekend, the club announced this Saturday.
“Tomorrow [domingo] it will be the last game of the season… Milan will say goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a short ceremony,” the club said in a statement.
“Milan would like to thank Zlatan for the wonderful time we spent together,” the statement continued.
‘Ibra’ was instrumental in Milan’s rebirth in Italian football, returning to the club at the end of 2019 and helping to win the ‘Scudetto’ last season. However, he has suffered from physical problems in recent months after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
The 41-year-old started just one game for Milan, in a 3-1 win over Udinese in March, in which he became the oldest player to score a goal in A league.
In April, the Swedish star suffered a right thigh injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Ibrahimovic was also Italian champion with Milan in 2011, the club’s last title until last season.
