Ecuador will face South Korea in the round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina after the Asian country closed out Group F with a 0-0 draw against tournament sensation Gambia. The Africans will see them with Uruguay.

La Tricolor qualified second in Group B with 6 points, behind the unbeaten United States (9), and awaited confirmation of their opponents on Friday.

Next Tuesday, the day of the top 16 will be opened by the USA and New Zealand, and closed by the duel between Uzbekistan and Israel, both games in Mendoza.

On Wednesday, Colombia will play Slovakia and Argentina will play Nigeria in San Juan. On the same day, Brazil will meet Tunisia in La Plata, and England will meet Italy.

On Thursday 1 June in Santiago del Estero, The Gambia will play Uruguay and Ecuador will face South Korea.

For the first time, five South American teams will play in the round of 16 of the U-20 World Cup, following the qualification of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay in this 2023 edition.
