The official profile of King Pelé on Instagram spoke about the new case of racism suffered by Vinicius Jr. in Spain. The episode took place last Sunday during the match of the Real Madrid against Valenciafor the 35th round of the spanish leagueat Mestalla Stadium.
Already in the second half of the duel, the match was briefly paused after much of the stadium called the player “monkey”. The scene and nonconformity of Vinícius Jr. generated a wave of support for the athlete of the Brazilian National Team.
The Pelé Foundation published a message of solidarity with the Brazilian striker on Instagram and recalled the meetings that Vinícius Jr. had with the king of football.
“Pelé always admired Vinicius, for his joy and talent. In the opportunities they had to talk, the King loved the affection and respect they had for each other. On this day, we are absolutely sure that Edson would be asking us to write this, so we will do so. Vini Jr., the Pelé Foundation supports you and admires your courage. Keep being an active voice and never stop smiling in the face of adversity. Racism has no more space in the sport we love so much”, published the profile.
