Quarter-final pairs of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship have been determined
The quarter-finals of the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship have been determined. Statistics are available on the website of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
In the playoffs of the tournament, the Swiss team will meet with the German team, the Swedish team – with the Latvian team, the US team – with the Czech Republic, the Canadian team – with Finland. Matches will be held on May 25 at 16:20 and 20:20 Moscow time.
Earlier on May 23, former coach of the Russian national team Vladimir Krikunov called for support for the US and Canadian teams at the World Cup. The specialist explained his words by the fact that in these countries Russian hockey players are not forbidden to play.
The 2023 World Championship takes place in Tampere, Finland and Riga, Latvia, from May 12 to 28. Initially, the tournament was supposed to be hosted by St. Petersburg, but due to IIHF sanctions, the venue was moved, and the teams of Russia and Belarus missed the championship.
