A basket by Sergio Llull, 3.2 seconds from the endthe only one who scored in the match, gave the eleventh title from the maximum continental competition to the Real Madrid (78-79) after overturning a six-point deficit that had the olympiacos.
From the start, Olympiacos burst into the game like a cannon, with the wrists of their shooters very sharp. Isaiah Canaan, Sasha Vezenkov and Kostas Papanikolau hammered the Real Madrid basket from distance and opened the first gap on the scoreboard (10-17).
As the released three-pointers kept coming in, Olympiacos’ lead shot up to twelve points (24-12).
As of 12-24, Olympiacos began to collapse, Real Madrid got a 0-9 run and at the start of the second quarter the game was already where the Spanish team wanted.
The whites began to grow and signed a 5-17 run in five minutes to equalize the game (29-29). They were placed with a maximum difference of five points (40-45), after a triple by Dzanan Musa.
Equality was undone by Canaan with six points in a row (57-52). The white coach stopped and put Rudy and Sergio Rodríguez into play and minimized having run out of scoring for 3:30 minutes.
The whites faced the final quarter with four points down (63-59). Mateo played again with the zone and the nerves of the Greeks, but it seemed that he did not shake their pulse and they knew how to choose well at all times.
But his basketball collapsed with 78-72 on the scoreboard. Olympiacos went blank, Real Madrid smelled the rival’s fear and knew it was his chance.
The differences were ironing out and with 3.2 to go Llull scored the winning basket.
