This Sunday, the forward Real Madrid, Vinícius Júnior, was a victim of racism, once again. The incident took place during the match against Valencia, at the Mestalla, which ended with the defeat of the Madrid team, by 1 to 0. In his profile on Twitter, Vini Jr. declared that the Spanish Championship “today belongs to the racists” and said to continue in the fight against them until the end.
“It wasn’t the first time, nor the second nor the third. Racism is normal in La Liga. The competition thinks it’s normal, the Federation does too, and the opponents encourage it. I’m very sorry. The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo , Cristiano and Messi today belongs to the racists. A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love, but which agreed to export the image of a racist country to the world. I am sorry for the Spaniards who do not agree, but today, in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists. And, unfortunately, for everything that happens every week, I can’t defend myself. I agree. But I’m strong and I’ll go to the end against racists. Even if far from here”, vented Vini Jr .

The game was stopped at around 25 minutes and only resumed after seven minutes. Vinícius Júnior identified one of the fans who was uttering the racist chants and had to be held by his teammates. The stadium announcer asked for the insults to stop so that the match could resume.
Vinícius Júnior was expelled in stoppage time, in the 52nd minute of the second half, for involvement in a confusion with Valencia players. The Brazilian received a red card for hitting Hugo Duro of Valencia with his arm. Vini Jr.’s reaction happened after the Brazilian was held by the neck by the same player during the discussion.
As remembered in Vini Jr.’s own publication, this is not the first time that the Brazilian has been the target of racist offenses from opposing fans this season. The same also happened in games against Atlético de Madrid, Valladolid and Mallorca.
No Instagram, Vini Jr. also recorded what happened and declared that the racists were rewarded with their expulsion from the field. “The prize that the racists won was my expulsion. It’s not football, it’s La Liga”, he wrote in the story.
Real Madrid returns to the field this Wednesday, when they face Rayo Vallecano, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Santiago Bernabéu, for Espanyol.
