American mixed martial artist (MMA) Anthony Smith spoke about the fear of going to Chechnya. His words are reported by Sport-Express.
“My wife’s relatives invited me to visit Chechnya. But I refused. Because it’s scary. It’s kind of scary, ”the athlete shared. He said that relatives of his wife’s stepmother Michala live in Chechnya.
Smith noted that he did not know why, but something about the idea of a trip to Chechnya scares him off. “Plus, I also fought with a guy from Chechnya [Адланом Амаговым]and I heard some stories about him, and these are crazy stories, ”added the UFC fighter.
Smith is ranked fifth in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight rankings. He spent his last fight in July 2022, losing at UFC 277 to Russian Magomed Ankalaev. In 2011, the American fought against Adlan Amagov, a native of Grozny. The fight was held under the auspices of Strikeforce and ended with Amagov’s early victory by knockout.
