President of the CSKA basketball club Andrey Vatutin spoke about the state of defender Alexei Shved after the attack. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Vatutin said that after a traumatic brain injury, the athlete is in the hospital. “As I understand it, there is no threat to life, but how seriously health has suffered will be clear today or tomorrow,” he stressed. The functionary added that the Shved had already filed a complaint with the police, who were investigating the circumstances and reasons for the attack.
The attack on Shved became known earlier on May 2. The incident happened at the exit of the restaurant. The 34-year-old basketball player suffered a head injury as a result of a fall and was taken to the hospital.
On May 1, for the first time in history, CSKA did not reach the final of the VTB United League. The army team lost to the Lokomotiv Kuban club in the seventh match of the semifinal playoff series of the tournament. The Red and Blues failed to win the title for the second year in a row.
