O Napoli went to the field at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium this Sunday against Salernitana needing only a victory to guarantee the title of the Italian Championship. The team took the lead thanks to a goal by Mathías Oliveira, but Boulaye Dia equalized for the visitors at the end and secured the 1-1.
With the score level, Luciano Spalletti’s men lost the chance to reach 81 points and lift the cup in advance. Napoli entered the field knowing that they only depended on themselves to win the championship, as vice-leader Lazio had lost to Inter earlier.
Even without the positive result, the team will have another chance to become champions on Thursday, when they face Udinese. Already Salernitana, which is led by former Flamengo Paulo Souza, will play against Fiorentina on Wednesday, trying to move away from the relegation zone.
It ends in a draw ⏸️

The game
Despite the party in the stands, Napoli struggled to open the scoring in the first half, stopping at goalkeeper Ochoa. In the 23rd minute, the Mexican saved Osimhen’s header from a raised ball in the area. Already at 42, he palmed a beautiful volley from Zambo Anguissa from outside the area.
In the second stage, the home team finally managed to open the scoring and forward the conquest of the title. After a corner kick in the 12th minute, Oliveira got the better of Salernitana’s defense and headed in the left corner, to the bottom of the net.
When the duel seemed already decided, striker Dia appeared to throw a bucket of cold water on the Napoli fans. The Senegalese made a good individual play on the right and hit a shot in Meret’s corner, leaving everything equal again on 39 minutes.
Despite feeling the goal, the home team went on the attack again and had a chance to score again in the 40’s, when Kvaratskhelia risked a left-side finish and Ochoa appeared again to save Salernitana. Despite the pressure, Napoli were unable to take the lead again.
