Bidaideak, runner-up in Eurocup 1 after losing the final against Santo Stefano

The Bidaideak Bilbao BSR lost the Eurocup 1 final against Santo Stefano by 69-53 this Sunday April 30 in Cantú (Italy). Therefore, the Bilbao team was proclaimed runner-up of the competition and the Italian team was the champion.
The Bilbao team did not have a good start, since their rival took advantage in the early stages (6-0). Furthermore, as the minutes passed, Santo Stefano increased its lead (10-2). It was difficult, but Bidaideak reacted to close the gap and get within two points (11-9). However, afterwards, the Italian team opened the gap again (17-11), although another reaction from the Bizkaia team left the score in a 19-16 favorable to the Italians at the end of the first ten minutes.
The start of the second quarter was very good on the part of Bidaideak and managed to tie the game (23-23). Despite the good start of the Bilbao team, Santo Stefano’s pulse did not tremble, he returned to impose his law and went to rest with a favorable score of 37-28.
The break did not help Bidaideak to improve the level it offered in the final stretch of the second quarter. Santo Stefano entered the field better, was superior both in defense and attack and achieved a 16-point lead in the first five minutes of the third quarter (46-30). Later, Bidaideak was not able to come close on the scoreboard and reached the last quarter with a deficit of 14 points. (54-40).
Even so, the Bizkaia team faced the final ten minutes with the hope of being able to push the rival and get back into the game. However, the Italian team ruined the hope of Bidaideak by showing solidity and being much superior on the pitch. In the end, Santo Stefano did not struggle and took the victory (69-53).
