Game that could give Napoli the Italian title is postponed to Sunday for security reasons

The match between Napoli and Salernitana, which could allow the Neapolitans to mathematically guarantee the title of champion of the Italian Championship, has been postponed from Saturday to Sunday for reasons of public order, the authorities announced on Thursday.

The new time of the game has not yet been made official by the Italian football league, but initially it would be at 15:00 local time (10:00 GMT), told the AFP a source close to the subject.

To be officially champion this weekend, with six rounds to go in the championship, the leader Napoli needs to beat the neighbor of Campania and that Lazio, vice-leader with 17 points less, do not beat Internazionale, in Milan, in their 32nd round duel.

Initially, Napoli would play on Saturday at 10 am (Brasília time), almost 24 hours before the Internazionale x Lazio game, scheduled for 7:30 am (Brasília time) on Sunday.

That big gap between the two matches was seen as problematic for public order management in Naples, a city eagerly awaiting its first “Scudetto” in 33 years.
