O Milan qualified for the semifinals of the Champions League. This Tuesday, the club visited the Napoli at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona and again beat the opponent by 2 to 1. Giroud and Kvaratskhelia were responsible for the goals. Osimhen cashed in the count.

In the first leg, the team had already beaten Napoli by the same score, with Bennacer’s goal. In the next stage, the team will face the winner of the duel between Inter Milan e Benficawhich meet this Wednesday, at 4 pm (Brasília time).

The seven-time champion Milan, by the way, ended a fast that had lasted for 16 years. The last time the club had reached the semis was in the 2006/07 season, which marked the team’s last title in the tournament.

Following the season, both teams have commitments for the Italian Championship. Next Sunday, Milan will host Lecce at 1pm. On the same day, Napoli visit Juventus at 3:45 pm.

Milan withstands pressure and extends lead

At home, Napoli started the game well, with speed, and suffocating Milan’s defense. However, the visitors managed to withstand and stifle the pressure.

Until, at 20 minutes, the Red-Black team had a very clear chance of scoring. Theo Hernández found Rafael Leão in the middle of the area, alone. The Portuguese, however, ended up being brought down by Mário Rui, who lost time on the ball and committed a foul. Giroud went for the ball and sent it in the same right corner as the goalkeeper jumped, wasting the kick.

At 42, Napoli faltered in defense and saw their goal leaked. In a spectacular counterattack, Rafael Leão started from behind, destroyed the opposing defense and invaded the area. Giroud received it, totally free in the area, and just had to push to put it into the net.

Scoreboard managed by Milan, scare at the end and vacancy confirmed

The second stage was of few emotions in the duel. Milan, looking only to manage the score and the aggregate advantage, did not suffer to defend Napoli’s balls.

However, on the 35th minute mark, Di Lorenzo tried to cross low and the ball bounced off Tomori’s hand. The referee signaled a penalty and Kvaratskhelia called responsibility. The number 77 sent the right corner, but goalkeeper Maignan chose the same side and defended.

Already in the additions, after corner kick, Osimhen rose more than the scorers and discounted for Napoli, but it was not enough to take the dispute for the qualification to the overtime.
