This Monday, the manchester city announced a project to renovate the Etihad Stadium, the team’s home stadium. The team has submitted a formal application to the city government. The works will cost up to 300 million pounds (about R$1.84 million).
The main change would be the increase in capacity at the site for 60,000 people. For this, the North stand will be expanded. In addition, it also foresees the creation of a shopping center, with restaurants, a museum and a hotel, and a modification to the roof so that supporters can walk on the highest part of the arena.

The process was initiated after consulting the association’s fans between February and March of this year, in which some suggestions were given. With the restructuring concepts approved, City decided to make their intentions with the stadium public.
According to the club, the refurbishment would create more than 2,600 prioritized jobs for people in Greater Manchester and is expected to last up to three years. The stadium, opened in 2002, has hosted club matches since 2003 and is named after the team’s master sponsor. If it comes to fruition, this would be the second restructuring of the Etihad Stadium, the first was in 2015.
